RCVRC PUPPY POLL

Welcome to the first RCVRC Puppy Poll. Since our work is ALL about ranked choice voting (RCV), we thought we would ask you to try your hand at a fun online election.

The staff is excited to introduce you to our favorite canine friends. Each pet has a personality picture and candidate statement to help you make your decision. Remember, you don’t have to choose only one dog; you can rank up to five of your favorites. With each RCVRC staff person running a tight campaign, we can't wait to see how YOU cast your vote for our new, unofficial mascot. Remember, you only get one vote per person. Happy voting.

MEET THE CANDIDATES

MAC BARTLETT

Hi! My name is Mac Bartlett, and I am a 1 1/2-year-old, tri-color Pembroke Welch Corgi. I love attention, playtime, and lots of love. I am absolutely fearless and once grabbed a green snake that was two feet long. I ran around the backyard with the snake, laughing hysterically as my brother yelled for me to drop it. If you are a stranger, just rub my belly, and I will show you to the silver. If elected, I promise to ferociously protect you from green snakes AND squirrels.

Mac is the doggie son of Gary Bartlett, Executive Director.

JESSICA MARIE BLIZZARD

Hi! My name is Jessica Marie Blizzard, and I am a 6-year-old chocolate lab. My nickname is Jess, but they really call me Jess da Mess behind my back. I like my tennis balls squeaky and my milk bones fresh. Rumor has it that I once broke the Guinness Book of World Records for the fastest and deepest hole ever dug, but my mama stepped in one two years ago and is still mad about it. If elected, I will probably still take naps in the sunshine, snore like an old man, and bark at nothing from the dining room window.

Jess belongs to Rosemary Blizzard, Finance Director.

CHARLOTTE GILBERT

Hi! My name is Charlotte Gilbert, and I am a 15-year-old black lab/border collie mix. My people rescued me when I was 2 and claim that I have rescued them every day since. I sure love them. I love chasing balls and sticks, but that fun is getting harder and harder since I am deaf and can’t hear the ball when it lands. I have to be sure to see where they throw it. I love visitors and riding in the car with my head in the wind. We have a feline “brother” who loves me, but I just ignore him. If elected, I promise to bring great wisdom to the office and arrive at the office every day with my head out of the car window.

Charlotte belongs to George Gilbert, Election Administration Consultant.

PRESLEY JAMES

Hi! My name is Presley James, and I am a two-year-old Weimaraner/Lab mix. I am not really sure how to say Weimaraner or whatever that is. I absolutely love to play ball, be outside, and ride in the car (anywhere and everywhere that I can convince my people to take me). If elected, I will promise to always be on the ball and share love and snuggles all around the jurisdiction.

Melissa Hall, Education Director, also holds the title of dog nanny. Presley, the doggie son of her BFF, spends plenty of time at Aunt Melissa's house.

MACK MAUTHE

Hi! My name is Mack, and I am a spry 13-year-old mutt. Sounds like my people think I have a bit of Chow and probably some Ridgeback in me. I prefer to focus on how much food I have in me. I love living in the big city of Washington, DC, and political campaigns come as no surprise to me. I am loyal and watchful (especially if my people are making dinner). If elected, I promise to fulfill the duties of the office and accept all treats, regardless of who gives them to me!

Mack belongs to Chris's roommate and stays quiet for meetings, or maybe Chris Hughes, Policy Director, just has better sound-canceling earphones than the rest of us.

LAIKA POTTER

Hi! My name is Laika Potter, named after a Soviet space dog. The original Laika was the first dog to orbit the earth. I would love to be an astronaut when I grow up. I would be over the moon excited to be a part of this family. My people ROCK. If elected, I promise to focus on my school work so that I can achieve my space goals someday.

Laika is the puppy that Kelleen Potter, Regional Coordinator, hopes to add to the family!

HAPPY SECHRIST

Hi! My name is Happy Sechrist. I am a 4-ish-year-old lab-mix rescue dog from the coast of North Carolina. Everyone thinks I am super shy, but I am actually really ferocious. Bark, bark, bark, and RUN with my tail tucked (see how I play that?)! I love long walks, my stinky old dog bed, and ALL the treats. I especially love my mom, but those other people who live in my house will do in a pinch. If elected, I will probably sleep all day and bark when meetings are in session because it is time for a walk.

Happy belongs to Kelly Sechrist, Development Director.
